Suncraft is a project that designs living panels powered by photosynthetic microbes to transform how we experience indoor and outdoor spaces. Rooted in a shared concern over how lifeless and disconnected our everyday environments feel, Suncraft proposes a bio-integrated solution: panels that purify air, interact with light, and reconnect users with nature through sensory engagement.
Born from a group of creative scientists coming together to imagine living, inspiring spaces—places where biology, architecture, and wellbeing could meet and grow. By analyzing buildings as if they were cells, we imagined visual and functional panels inspired by photosynthetic bacteria and microbial ecosystems—adaptable to spaces like libraries and classrooms.
Suncraft aims to spark a shift in how buildings are conceived—not just as containers, but as living systems. By starting within our own university, we hope to prove that healthier, more inspiring, and sustainable learning environments are not only possible—they are ready to grow.
