Empowering people to give plastic a second life.
Long description
PET Lamp is a global project that reuses plastic bottles, combining environmental action, craftsmanship, and industrial design. It collaborates with artisan communities worldwide to create unique, inclusive, and diverse products. PET Lamp upholds high standards of sustainability and social responsibility.
Founded in Madrid by Enrique Romero de la Llana, Sebastián Betanzo, and the awarded designer Álvaro Catalán de Ocón, the project addresses plastic waste through creative reuse. In 2012, it launched in Colombia, where artisans used traditional basketry techniques to transform bottles into lamps. Exhibited at several fairs, galleries and museums, it gained international recognition.
Over 12 years, PET Lamp has expanded to Chile, Ethiopia, Thailand, Ghana, Australia, Japan, and Rwanda, preserving cultural heritage while promoting sustainability. Each collection follows technical guidelines, integrating plastic bottles with local craftsmanship, ensuring a balance between unity and diversity.
