Long description

Founded in 2022, Anomalia is an architecture and design practice focused on developing sustainable solutions for the built environment by prioritizing material production, life cycle, and circularity. Addressing the climate crisis and construction waste, Anomalia explores regenerative materials to mitigate the impact of crop residue burning and excessive resource consumption.

MycoBlox is a pioneering project that transforms mushroom mycelium and agricultural waste into load-bearing, self-supporting, interlocking blocks for applications such as low-rise structures, interior partitions, furniture, and architectural products. Designed for dry assembly, these lightweight blocks weigh just 1.5kg and can withstand compressive loads of up to 1.6 tonnes. Compared to concrete, MycoBlox reduces water consumption by 72% and fully biodegrades within 100 days in home composting conditions. The project envisions a decentralized, localized production system that fosters conscious consumption and reshapes sustainable construction practices.
