Long description

Muntanya is a multidisciplinary team that turns organic waste into fully compostable, durable, and aesthetically refined materials. 1/3 of all food produced globally is wasted, and most packaging relies on single-use plastic. We reimagine and transform organic byproducts into bio-based materials used across different design industries such as packaging, fashion, decals, interior design, and ephemeral installations. Our materials decompose in 80 days under composting conditions and begin degrading indoors after five years, offering a sustainable alternative to plastic. Founded in Mexico in 2024, Muntanya has doubled its capacity till today and developed 14+ projects across Mexico and North America with brands like Oatly, Soho House, Buna, and Aire Libre while recovering more than 220 kg of organic waste. Our mission is to redesign not just objects, but systems—from sourcing to post-use—proving that waste can become a resource, and creativity a tool for environmental transformation.
