A lamp that merges craft, alternative material & decolonial design into a replicable method for sustainable, intercultural collaboration

Long description

Lampoep is a collaborative project between Dutch and Indonesian designers, where local crafts, materials and knowledge take center stage. The project functions as a blueprint for a decolonial design approach—built on equality, dialogue and mutual learning. By combining traditional knowledge with new techniques, Lampoep offers a sustainable alternative that not only preserves cultural heritage, but also strengthens local economies. The lamp itself is made from tofu waste and cow dung, structured by hand using woven bamboo. Through this method, we intentionally shift away from industrial tooling, making the design scalable, community-led, and deeply contextual.
