The New Factory addresses the critical issue of textile waste by introducing COPPO, an innovative recycled composite material preventing post-consumer textile waste—especially its stubborn residues, such as collars, seams, blended fibers or other types that are still difficult for textile-to-textile recycling—from ending up in landfills. COPPO repurposes non-recyclable textile waste using a bio-based binder derived from aquaculture waste. This process not only diverts waste from disposal but also retains and enhances the economic value of these discarded materials, transforming them into a highly versatile solid material with soundproofing properties. COPPO can be repurposed into fashion and retail displays, pop-up installations, and visual merchandising, providing brands with a sustainable alternative to solid virgin materials.
By filling the gap in the textile recycling hierarchy, COPPO complements existing textile-to-textile and other recycling solutions and contributes to a truly circular textile economy.
