A smart, solar-ready roofing and cladding system made from recycled plastic that enables circular, climate-resilient, & community-driven construction.
Long description
Climatile™ is a modular system that redefines what roofs and walls can do — transforming them into platforms for circular construction, energy generation, nature integration, and climate resilience. Developed by Takazuri, the system turns hard-to-recycle plastic — including low-value and ocean-bound waste — into durable tiles for roofing, cladding, and biophilic applications.
Each tile is engineered for thermal insulation, solar readiness, and rainwater harvesting, while remaining demountable, recyclable, and locally manufacturable. Its modular design makes it easy to deploy across formal and informal settings — from homes to public spaces.
Climatile is more than a material — it’s a regenerative building skin. With successful launches in Kenya (850 m² installed, 85 kW solar), Takazuri is scaling through an asset-light, licensing-based model. The system enables inclusive, climate-adaptive infrastructure across regions — unlocking jobs, energy, and dignity through circular design.
This is circular design at scale — one tile, one roof, one region at a time
