Long description

Founded in 2019, GOODSPACE, is a team of architects with a common interest of creating environmentally and socially conscious structures and buildings that inspire positive change.

Ethiopia is rapidly urbanizing, driving high demand for construction materials. Currently, most materials used are unsustainable, imported, and require skilled labor. Ethiopia holds over 60% of Africa’s bamboo, a versatile, eco-friendly resource, yet it remains underutilized in modern construction. One barrier is the lack of designs demonstrating its potential.

Our initiative, ‘Exploring Bamboo,’ aims to develop simple, easy-to-assemble prototypes to showcase bamboo’s practicality and sustainability. By documenting these designs and publishing step-by-step assembly guides, in what we call Design – build – publish model, we aim to empower builders and individuals to incorporate bamboo into their projects. This effort promotes sustainable urban development, leverages local resources, save costs and inspires broader adoption of eco-friendly construction practices.
