INSIDE THE WDCD ACCELERATOR

Following Sprint Week, the winners of the WDCD Accelerator will join a six-week program designed to refine and expand their ideas. During this time, 8 selected teams will enhance their innovations, sharpen their skills, connect with mentors, and become part of WDCD’s growing alumni community.

They will also gain access to a global network of partners to help validate their businesses, expand their reach, and integrate design principles into their climate solutions.

The goal? To equip the next generation of designers and creative entrepreneurs with the tools and resources to drive the circular transition.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

The WDCD Accelerator is an equity-free programme that supports initiatives with established social or creative enterprises that use design as a transformative tool to create sustainable impact and drive regenerative growth, contributing to a circular society. It is shaped around three main verticals; Creativity (mindset), Entrepreneurship (toolset), and Leadership (skillset) for impact.

The programme covers a period of six weeks and is designed to support early-stage and growth-stage projects.

The centre of the programme is an intense Sprint Week, where representatives from each team gather in Amsterdam to connect and learn from each other in person. Throughout the five-day programme, winners share their stories, set their intentions, meet their mentors, visit studios of Dutch designers and changemakers and join various masterclasses by selected experts in circular design, strategy and entrepreneurship.

CAMILA NAVEIRA

Founder | Reparar

Reparar.org is an open tool to promote repair, reuse and correct disposal across LatAm in order to strengthen the repair sector, reduce waste, preserve resources and contribute to a circular paradigm. It’s an initiative of Club de Reparadores, and is currently at a pilot stage. Our experience of over 5 years has shown us there is great local interest in repair, but also a practical difficulty in finding trustworthy repair services, and efficient ways of donating for reuse or disposing for recycling. We therefore decided to create a tool to make this easier and more accessible. The project aims to create an open and collaborative directory of repairers that strengthens the sector by generating greater job stability, helping them promote their work and reach new customers. The platform will also provide information about organizations that promote reuse and correct means of disposal, playing a key role in promoting a circular economy model and providing CO2 emissions saving data to raise awareness among consumers about the climate impact of our things.

Co-Culturing Rituals | Biodesigner

A research project about disposable photosynthetic materials that could be used in medical applications and beyond, Co-culturing Rituals – Biosoothe explores how human skin could benefit from photosynthesis and how this could revolutionise the way we heal. This material research builds on the foundation that bacterial cellulose serves as an optimal scaffold for fostering the growth of micro-algae, sparking interest in investigating the potential of combining micro-algae and bacterial cellulose to create a bio- composite material. The outcome is Biosoothe—a photosynthetic symbiotic material with potential applications in wound healing, skin repair and skin care.
